Barbara Guffie Hodgin, age 92, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024.

Barbara was born at Devils Prong Creek in Standing Indian and was a lifelong resident of Macon County. She proudly joined the Methodist faith when she was 14 and remained a member for the rest of her life; Barbara was currently attending Cartoogechaye Baptist Church. She was a receptionist for the United States Forestry Service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Turner Guffie and Helen Roane Guffie; husband, Joe Hodgin; sister, Betty Barnhardt; and granddaughter, Lyla Maxson.

She enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of her labor, travelling- whether it be loafering locally or across the country, and having her nose in a good book.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Jerry Hodgin (Darlene), Susan Hodgin Deal (Jim), Jack D. Hodgin (June), and Sharon Bryson (Tony); 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Per Barbara's specific request, a brief funeral service will take place at 12 noon on Monday, December 9, 2024 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Gillespie Chapel church cemetery. The grandsons will serve as active pallbearers; and honorary pallbearers will be Hoppy Rogers, Joann Hurst, and Lucy Pickens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
