Obituary

Anastasia Louise Woolbright, born March 25, 2024, at 6:37pm, peacefully passed away in her mother's arms at home in the wee hours of the morning on April 2, 2024. She was diagnosed with anencephaly at 19 weeks gestation, but it proved to be no match for her fighting spirit. She defied all odds and thrived until she went home to be with her Jesus.

Anastasia is the beloved daughter of Thomas Lash and JuliaMarie DiGiorgio Woolbright of Franklin. During her brief visit on earth, she received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion, enjoyed eating with all the gusto of the strong Italian women who came before her, cuddled with her adoring big brothers, Thomas Edward (6), Anthony Robert Joseph (3), and Benedict Raffaele (2), and was constantly snuggled tightly in the arms of her mama, daddy, and all of the her family and friends who came to visit her.

With a name that means "Resurrection" and 'Great Warrior", Anastasia's life was a testament to the sanctity and immeasurable value of life, and her journey has touched countless lives and hearts. Although she is deeply missed by her parents and brothers, great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, godparents, and dear friends, the certainty that she is whole and happy in Heaven has given them all great joy and peace.

The family will receive visitors at Macon Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, with a Rosary and Vigil Rites to follow in the chapel.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 8, at 3:00 PM at St. Mary, Mother of God Catholic Church in Sylva. Fr. Peter Shaw will be celebrating the Mass. A graveside service and internment will immediately follow at Woodlawn cemetery in Franklin. She will be laid to rest with her paternal grandfather, Robert Joseph Woolbright.

Memorial contributions may be made to the bereavement ministry of Dr. Abby Jorgensen, who's knowledge, care, and love during every step of Anastasia's journey helped her family find comfort and solace in the midst of sorrow. Donations to Dr. Jorgensen allow her to provide her incredible care to other families facing similar losses free of charge.
