Verna "Mildred" Baliles, 71, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, October 16, 2006.

A native of St. Petersburg, FL, she was the daughter of Verna Mildred Thomas and the late Fabian Grover Thomas. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Gene Thomas. Mildred was a secretary for the family business; graduated from Mercer College; was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, where she played the piano and loved to sing.

She is survived, in addition to her mother, Verna Mildred Thomas of Crystal River, FL, by her husband of forty-nine years, Robert James Baliles; three children, Thomas James Baliles of Franklin, NC, Robert Adam Baliles of Asheville, NC, and Marianne Baliles of Franklin, NC; five grandchildren, Josh, Leah, Faith, Aaron, and Caleb Baliles; and eight nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 19, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ron Odum and worship leader, Dr. Bruce Tanner will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, at Macon Funeral Home.
