Obituary for Vergie Baldwin (Clampitt)

Vergie  Baldwin (Clampitt)
Vergie Clampitt Baldwin, 94, of Franklin, died peacefully at her home on March 21, 2008 following a period of declining health.

A lifelong resident of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Norman G. Clampitt and Pearl C. Clampitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Baldwin; brothers, Robert and Eugene Clampitt; and a sister Gertrude C. Ledford. She was a member of Iotla Baptist Church for more than fifty years and a member of the Women's Missionary Union.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce B. Swafford and husband Charles Swafford of Franklin, June B. Sorrells and husband Rev. Paul Sorrells of Shelby; sons, C. Jack Baldwin and wife Sue W. Baldwin of Raleigh, and Johnny L. Baldwin of Raleigh; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Hazel C. Gwaltney of Johnson City, Tenn. and Arbutus C. Shuler of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Iotla Baptist Church.
Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Paul Sorrells will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. At other times the family will be at the home of Charles and Joyce Swafford, 78 Paul Swafford Lane.

Memorials may be made to the Iotla Baptist Church Building Fund, 1537 Iotla Church Road, Franklin, NC 28734 or to Hospice House Foundation, PO Box 815, Franklin, NC 28744.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Baldwin, Russ Hamilton, Tom Runyon, Tim Trexler, Bud Brown and Alex Brown.
