Thomas W. Angel, III, 80, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010.
Born in Macon County he was the son of the late Thomas W. Angel, Jr. and Alice Carmichael Angel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Angel, IV. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran; member of First United Methodist Church and was the former owner of Angel Drug Store and Franklin Lodge and Golf Course. Tom was an avid golfer and a devoted husband and father. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Welch Angel and a daughter, Allison Angel of Fletcher, NC.
Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, January 15, at First United Methodist Church. Dr. John Fowler and Rev. Marti Hatch will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Southard, Johnny Pendergrass, Pat Pattillo, Richard Jones, Dr. John Archer and Jess Brooks.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Key, Clayton Ramsey, Charles Conley, Bob Moore and members of his Mill Creek golfing group.
