Thelma Monteith Hyde, 68, of Franklin, entered into rest Thursday, April 7, 2005.

A native of Swain County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Clyde and Hazel McClure Monteith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Lipe who died in 2000. She was a Registrar for eight years at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL; and both she and her husband were active members of Cowee Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Carrol W. Hyde; four children, Denise Sales and husband, R. J. of Fairview, NC, Mona Hyde Evans of Bryson City, NC, Samuel Wesley Hyde and wife, Lisa of Otto, NC, and Michael Hyde and Nathan Moon, both of Washington, DC; one brother, Erskine Monteith and wife, Dorothy of Otto, NC; two sisters, Lillian Tippett and husband, Roy, and Mib Moore and husband, Bruce, both of Franklin; four grandchildren, Nora Bugg of Tampa, FL, Stephanie King of Hendersonville,NC, Bryon Lipe of South Korea, and Amy Smith of Alarka, NC; one great grandchild, Jacob Smith of Alarka, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Cowee Baptist Church. Rev. Shawn Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in the Cowee Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Tippett, David Tippett, R. J. Sales, Aaron Smith, Bruce Moore, and Scott Monteith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cowee Baptist Church Building Fund, 6301 Bryson City Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
