Obituary for Thea Eroes (Eroes)

Thea Eroes, beloved Pastor of the New Jerusalem Church of Macon County, passed away January 12, 2008, at the age of 80.

Born in Vienna, Austria, she and her parents lived through a miraculous escape from Nazi invasion, not unlike the story of Corrie Ten Boom and the "Sound of Music" family, who were friends with Thea's family. Her life was fully surrendered and dedicated unto the Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived and deeply loved, not by physical family members, but by a very large, spiritual family in the Body of Christ.

She was a teacher, missionary, and nurturer of many, starting with students with special needs in Bedford Stuyvesant, New York, and continued teaching as a minister and missionary throughout Europe, the United States, and into Canada, China and Puerto Rico. Her two books, on teaching teachers special methods for teaching children, have been reprinted even today, and are being used in Africa, USA, and Canada.

Many lives and families have been blessed by Thea's compassion and wisdom in counsel. Surely the Lord embraces her now with the words, "Well done good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." And we, with grateful hearts, say "Amen."

Macon Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
