Ruth Morris Whitaker, 90, of Franklin, passed away Sat., Jan. 27, 2007.

Born in Bryson City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Zeb Morris and Maude Hyatt Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edgar J. Whitaker who died in January 22, 1995 and three brothers and two sisters. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church serving on the flower committee and the homebound committee which she thoroughly enjoyed; and was the last original member of the Tel Sunday School Class that was formed in 1940. She was co-owner of Mary Ruth Beauty Shop, retiring after 43 years.

She is survived by a brother, Bobby Lee Morris, Sr. of Candler, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Dusek will officiate. Burial will be in the Swain Memorial Park Cemetery, Bryson City, NC.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Kinsland, Mike Kinsland, Bobby Lee Morris, Jr., Bill Waldroup, Richard Young, Jeff Palmer and Billy Mashburn.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Proffitt, Marselle Shuler, George Bradley and Bo Kinsland.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
