Russell Calvin Ernst, 82, of Franklin, NC, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007.

Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Baldwin J. and Blanche Ernst. Russell was a US Army-Air Corp. Staff Sergeant during WWII. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He was a patriotic veteran and loved America; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores Agnes Nebot Ernst; nine children, Christopher Ernst of Stoughton, Mass., Adrienne Mosco of Franklin, Dolores Pataky of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Juliana Burtoff of Selden, NY, Russell A. Ernst of Lake Worth, FL, Rosemary Pumillo of Mattituck, NY, Timothy Ernst of Fayetteville, GA, Baldwin Ernst of Franklin and Matthew Ernst of Oakdale, NY; one brother, Kenneth Warren Ernst of Cheektowaga, NY; seventeen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Matthew Kauth will officiate. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, NC.
