Rober T. Shutt Jr., 66, of Franklin, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 after a year-long battle with cancer.

Born in Rural Hall, NC, he was the son of the late Rober T. Shutt Sr. and Minerva Fulp Shutt. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Masters Degree from Georgia State University. Rober was a US Air Force Veteran of Vietnam. He was employed as an agent with the IRS in Atlanta for many years and a lifetime member of the Georgia Society of CPA’s. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Ashley DesRoches and husband Peter of Duluth, GA and Leah Smith and husband Greg of Lexington, SC; a sister, Linda Freeman of Rural Hall, NC; close companion, Faye Carver; three grandchildren, Vivian Smith, Elena Smith and Anna-Kate DesRoches; one niece and one nephew.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Franklin, NC. Dr. John Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in the Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery in Rural Hall, NC.
