Obituary for Richard William Osborne

Richard “Dick” William Osborne passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024.

Dick was born on June 3, 1933, in Camden, NY. He grew up spending time with family and friends at his family camp in Redfield, NY. After finishing his tour with the US Navy aboard the USS Leary, Dick relocated to Orlando, Florida where he worked as a mechanical engineer. He was teaching scuba diving when he met and married Mae Marlene Batson Davis. The years Dick spent in Florida he enjoyed fishing, water skiing, camping, scuba diving, playing tennis, and following the NASA space launches with his wife and five children. After retirement he moved to Franklin, NC where he enjoyed attending church, putzing in his barn, playing Bavarian records, riding with his dog Bo in his ATV, and relaxing with his cat Polly. Dick was predeceased by his wife Mae Marlene Batson Osborne; parents Elsie Mary Parks Osborne and Richmond Killian Osborne.

He is survived by his five children, Curtis C. Davis (Jan); Janet M. Patterson (David); Charles C. Davis (Francisca); Heather A. Gordon (Terry); Richard “Ozzie” W. Osborne (Suzanne); and 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Walnut Creek Baptist Church on April 21, 2024, following the morning church service. Dick and Mae will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Titusville, Florida in mid-summer with a family service sharing fond memories of their beautiful life together.
