Richard Allen Dukes, 72, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009. Born in LaGrange Co., IN, he was the son of the late Everett L. Dukes and Juanita Nelson Dukes. Richard was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He has lived in the area for two years, moving from Ft. Wayne, IN, where he was a member of the American Legion and assisted in patient transportation to and from the VA Clinic. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Kathy Dills Dukes; mother-in-law, Jean Dills of Franklin; two sons; a daughter; a step daughter, Lisa Sherrill of Franklin; a step son, Kevin Gates of Franklin and two grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
