Obituary for Rev. Lee W. Steffen

Rev. Lee W.  Steffen
Rev. Lee W. Steffen, 87, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he was the son of the late William Steffen and Arvilla Forsyth Steffen. Rev. Steffen was a Pastor in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and served churches in Jamison, NE, Clearwater, NE, Spencer, IA and Lakeland, FL. He was a Pastor for 63 years and also served as Interim Pastor for Resurrection Lutheran Church of Franklin. He received his Masters Degree in theology from the Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Rev. Steffen is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy J. Hertlein Steffen; four children, William Lee Steffen and wife Carolyn E. of Canberra, Australia; Frederick John Steffen and wife Elizabeth Ann of Arlington Heights, IL; Paul Richard Steffen and wife Pamela Sue of Lebanon, TN; and Mark Edwin Steffen and wife Joan C. of Fuquay Varina, NC; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Resurrection Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Strickert of Atlanta, a longtime friend and colleague, will officiate. Private burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Michelle Jansen, Laura Paraskevas, Sarah Vanatta, Amy Weston, Ruth Steffen, Brent Steffen, Brian Steffen, Sonja Steffen and Timothy Steffen.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 25, 2008 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Macon Funeral Home.
