Obituary for Raymond G. Phelps, III

Raymond G. Phelps III (Buzz), 52, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Franklin, N.C. on February 24, 2007. He was born in Auburn, NY.

Ray was a 1972 graduate of Skaneateles Central School, where he lettered in golf, football and wrestling, and attended Auburn Community College. In his Junior year he participated in a Methodist Missions trip to South America.

He was an Eagle Scout, Archery Counselor at Camp Woodland, and a member of Auburn First United Methodist Church where he joined the Air Scouts program, utilizing their Link Trainer.

Ray was with New York Telephone and Bell South Systems for 32 years as a Facility Technician and was involved in the installation of the first fiber optics system.

He was predeceased by his brother, Lee and his Aunt's: Ida Secaur, and Hazel Chamberlain.

Surviving are his parents, Jeanne & Ray Phelps Jr. of Franklin, NC, and his sisters Cynthia (Joseph) MacNeil of Greensboro, NC; Jody (Mark) Rogers of Auburn, NY; Penny (Sam) Neno of Groton, NY: Sharmon Phelps of Fort Myers, Fl. and Holly (Tim) Edgar of Cobbtown, Ga.; nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. Internment in Soule Cemetery, Auburn, NY.
