Obituary for Ray Howard Mason
Ray Howard Mason, 74, of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late LeRoy Mason Sr. and Mary Gertrude Ray Mason. He was also preceded in death by a son, Randall Mason; two brothers, LeRoy Mason, Jr. and Carroll Mason and a sister, Charlotte Snyder. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Ray was a meat cutter and worked for the Food Palace Grocery Store for many years. He was a member of Windy Gap Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; a member of the Disabled Veterans; and was a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dixie Lou Wilson Mason; two children, Dennis Ray Mason and Timothy Craig Mason both of Franklin; two sisters, Freda Hartshorn of Lincoln, Nebraska and Anna Jean Dick of Gastonia, NC; two brothers, Clarence E. Mason of Franklin and Harve Dale Rick Mason of Clayton, GA; five grandchildren, Autumn Cunningham, Steven Mason, Ashley Cabe and Amber Mason all of Franklin and Leann Fuhs of Greensboro, NC; five great grandchildren, Gavin Cunningham, Ryan Christopher Fuhs, Rylee Cunningham, Nicholas Fuhs and Bobby Fuhs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mark Wilson, David Snyder, Eddie Mason, Bob Simmonds, Darrell Mason and Todd Mason.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Hanover Square, Suite 1600, 434 Federal St., Mall, Raleigh, NC 27601.
