Obituary

Patricia Lynn Cook

Born the second of four children to the late Franklin, NC businessman David Lee Cook and wife Audrey Holland Cook, Patricia arrived to the great joy of her family on 13 October, 1957.

She fought a brutal disease with courage and dignity for the past several years. On Monday, 5 August at 6:30 am, Patsy passed from this earth to the welcoming arms of Almighty God, surrounded by her loving family.

Her survivors include her Mother, Mrs. Audrey Holland Cook, two children, Jason David Kehle of Brunswick, GA and Ms. Renee Jones of Townsend, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Marlene Williams (The late Robert Williams) and Mrs. Angela Burrell (Dr. Adam Burrell) both of Franklin; one brother, Rick Cook also of Franklin. She had two cherished grandchildren, Miss Charity Alexcis Jones and Mr. Eric James David Jones; and beloved nieces and nephews, Robbie Williams and Alicia Higdon, Lucas and Taylor Cook and Jordan, Payton and Corey Burrell. She had six step grandchildren who she loved dearly, Jimmy, Mary, Melissa and Anna Claire Yelton of Spartanburg, SC and Russell, Rachel and Clinton Gentry of Chapin, SC.

Patsy is also survived by her lifetime companion, best friend and husband, Jim Smith of Spartanburg, SC. Among her many dear friends were Jim's family, Rachel Smith Yelton (Pastor Bryan Yelton) of Spartanburg, SC, and Missy Smith Gentry (Russ) of Chapin, SC, and her caregiver at the farm, Mrs. Jessica Howard.

She graduated from Franklin High School where she was a cheerleader and active in student events. Patsy managed the Talbot Office Supply Store in Franklin for a number of years and was the accountant for Dan's Auto Shop.

She was a born-again Christian of the Baptist faith, kind of heart, pure of spirit and a loyal, faithful and devoted sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, wife and friend to many.

Always a "daddy's girl", Patsy had a great love for her native mountains and everything of nature. She took great joy in springtime flowers blooming at the farm, seeing calves born in the Spring and relaxing at her family's retreat on the Pacolet River.

One of the great loves of her life was "Killer", her lion-hearted Boston Terrier, who took every step Patsy took for fifteen years.

Patsy's earthly body was cremated. Part of her ashes were given to each child; part will be spread on the farm she so loved, and the final part will be buried with her husband. Her favorite hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden".

She loved driving Jim's old Cadillac convertible to Gatlinburg, trips to the beach, exploring the beaches and mountains of Jamaica and the Bahama Islands, crafting, flowers and gardening.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Macon Funeral Home is capably handling the arrangements.
