Obituary for Nora Viola Clark (Stuart)

Franklin ~ Nora Viola Stuart Clark, 81, passed away at her home on November 11, 2023, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Doyle P. Clark, her first husband, Howard C. Patton, her daughter, Jane Elliott (Leo), her stepson, Timothy Clark, her grandchildren, Jacob Elliott and India Elliott, all of Franklin; her brothers Fred Stuart (Kathy) and Elam Stuart, of Greenville, SC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Stuart, also of Greenville, SC.

Clark was born in Greensboro, NC to Benjamin Franklin Stuart and Vera Louise Humphries Stuart in 1942. She lived in Georgia as a child, then moved to Franklin, NC as a teenager and lived on Bidwell Street. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1960 and later went on to get her degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University and then further training in diagnostics/testing from Tennessee Wesleyan University. She lived in Mt. Edgecumbe, Alaska for seven years and then lived in Cherokee, NC (Qualla Boundary) where she was a diagnostic teacher at Cherokee Elementary. After she returned to live in Franklin, she became the GED teacher at the Lyndon B. Johnson Job Corps and was well loved by her students.

A private memorial service will follow at a later date.
