Nellie Mae Carpenter., 80, of Franklin, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2009.
Born in Macon Co, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee Dills and Lillie Mae Keener Dills. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Roger Carpenter; sister, Christine Webb and brother LeRoy “R.J” Dills. Nellie lived in Franklin most of her life and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist. She was a member of Women’s Missionary (WMU), Woodsmen of the World and Nantahala Hiking Club. She would go to the nursing home every Friday night to take part and sing in their church service.
She is survived by two brothers, Isaac Dills and wife Virginia of Franklin and James “Leon” Dills and wife Barbara of Otto; two sisters, Virginia Holland of Maiden, NC and Melba Watts of Crestview, FL; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Greg Rogers and Rev. Alton Dendy will officiate. Burial will be in the Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Allen Dills, James Dills, Nick Dills, Jesse Justice, Josh Justice, Larry Dills and Nathan Keener.
Jeffrey Watts, Jamie Watts, Corey Watts, Steven Watts and Tommy Dills will serve as honorary pallbearers.
