Obituary for Geneva Scruggs

Nannie “Geneva” Scruggs, 77, of Franklin, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022.


Ms. Scruggs was born in Macon County NC. to the late Willie Scruggs and Isabella Greenwood Scruggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Anthony Gladden Scruggs; and siblings, Walter “Little Willie” Scruggs, Charles Scruggs, Josephine Scruggs Bryson, Carl Scruggs, Eddie Scruggs, Billy Scruggs, Betty Jean Scruggs Parrish, Orlando Scruggs, and Leon Scruggs. Geneva was a member of the Burgess Chapel. Geneva retired from Macon County Schools in 2008. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower garden and looking for bargains at flea markets.

She is survived by two sisters, Claudette Frances Burston and Synethia Owens (Bob) of Franklin; brother, Stanley Scruggs of Franklin; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 2 at 12pm in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home.

Rev. Mozart Moliere, Bishop Farris Long, Minister Richard Lugo and Minister Elisha Moliere will officiate.

Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11am till 12pm, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Curt Stewart, Tony Stewart, Terry Stewart, Norman Bryson, Tyler Scruggs, and Elisha Moliere.
