Nancy Carol Whittington, 66, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Nancy retired from Bell South and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, GA and attended Holly Springs Baptist Church in Franklin. She enjoyed creating the newsletter for Care Net every month and published a CD of all the churches of Macon County where all proceeds went to Care Net. She volunteered with Angel’s Closet, West Virginia Project and many other missions in Georgia and North Carolina. Nancy was preceded in death by her father Edward Whittington, her mother, Hetty W. Gibson and two brothers, Charles and Jimmy Whittington. She is survived by two sisters, Rosalee Jacobs and husband Carroll and Frances Crisp and husband Jesse; a step-sister; two step-brothers and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Donnie Clay; three step-children, nine grandchildren and several lifelong best friends.
Funeral Service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 31, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Moffitt and Rev. Vic Greene will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be David Crisp, Jason Clay, Mike Steiert , Trent Rhea, Austin Reitmeier, Clay Reitmeier, Seth Steiert and Fred Bulgin.
