Obituary for Muriel Rickard (Williams)

Muriel Williams Rickard, 85, of Franklin, NC, formerly of Deerfield Beach, FL, died May 4, 2021 at home.

Born in Woodbury, NJ, she was the daughter of Rev. Dr. H. G. Williams and Miriam Koller Williams. She served as City Clerk of Deerfield Beach for 25 years (retiring in 1996), President of the Florida Association of City Clerks, and President of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She was an award-winning needlecrafter.

Muriel was predeceased by her son Stephen D. Merritt, husband Wilbur A. Rickard, and brother Rev. Dr. Melvin G. Williams.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Kathy D. Merritt of Pompano Beach, FL; grandson Ryan Merritt of Coral Springs, FL and his sons Stephen and Connor; granddaughter Rachel Therrell of Deerfield Beach, FL and her daughters Victoria, Alana, and Quinn; nieces Sherri W. Fisher of Medfield, MA and Deborah G. Bean of Becket, MA; and nephew Scott A. Williams of Wilbraham, MA.

Macon Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

A private service will be held.
