Obituary for Mildred Ruth "Millie" Lau (Mann)

Mildred Ruth "Millie"  Lau (Mann)
Mildred "Millie" Ruth Lau, 55, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007 after a long battle with breast cancer.
Born in Daytona Beach, FL, she was the daughter of Dorothy Jean Kressman Mann of Ocala, FL and the late James Walter Mann. She was preceded in death by a niece, Bonnie Jean Gresham who died in 2002. Millie retired after 26 years from Bell South, then worked as a receptionist in oncology at Halifax Hospital where she enjoyed comforting people with cancer. She was a security officer for the Daytona Beach Speedway. Millie was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church, the Halifax Auxiliary, Pioneers of America, Communications Workers Union, Humane Society of America and was active in the Relay for Life.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband Jim Lau; son, Christopher Richardson of Florida; two step daughters, Kimberly Ann Deamer of Long Island, NY and Destinie Joy Lau of Daytona Beach, FL; three sisters, Brenda Jean Gresham, Doreen Mann Hadeed and Evelyn Mann Marshall all of Ormond Beach, FL; two nieces, Eva Maria Hadeed and Elaine Marshall both of Ormond Beach, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Trull and Rev. Lynn Dulakis will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1648, Franklin, NC 28744.
