Obituary for Mayme G. Moses (Moses)

Mayme G. Moses, 99, of Franklin, entered into rest on Friday, November 11, 2005.

A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late David James Moses and Edith Leanora Brown Moses. In addition she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Zachary and Ray and four sisters, Faye Moses Mashburn, Eva Cabe, Ida Alley and Helen Godwin. She graduated from Western Carolina University and received her master's degree from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Mayme was a school teacher in Macon County for 12 years and Clay County for 32 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, #11 in Clay County, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in Asheville, NC.

Miss Moses remained very active for the duration of her life, fulfilling a life long dream of seeing the Grand Canyon late September of this year.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by a large circle of extended family and friends. She was a joy to everyone that met her and a blessing to everyone who was lucky enough to know her well.


Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 14, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Ronnie Owens will officiate. Burial will be in the Higdonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, November 13, at Macon Funeral Home.

Nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
