Obituary for Max Cunningham

Max Cunningham, 60, of Otto, entered into rest on Saturday, July 23, 2005.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Sam Cunningham and Levida Webb Cunningham. He was preceded in death by a half brother, John Webb. Max was a heavy equipment operator for Vulcan of Rabun Gap, Georgia, was a member of Newman Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the True Believers Gospel Group.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha Norton Cunningham; two children, Ricky Cunningham of Toccoa, GA and Denise C. Stewart and husband Robert of Franklin; half sister, Gladys Burnette of Sky Valley; three granddaughters, Brooke Stewart, Alysia Stewart and Sarah Cunningham and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Newman Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Alton Dendy, Rev. Danny Cannon and Rev. Ronnie Owens will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 25, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Stan Southards, Ronnie Brewer, Justin Norton, Gene McDonald, Ernest Chastain, Charlie Dowdle, Glenn Holt and James Wood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newman Chapel Cemetery Fund, C/O Dorothy Monteith, 60 Mulberry Road, Otto, NC 28763 or Patton Methodist Youth Group, C/O Brenda Holland, 65 Scroggs Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
