Obituary for Maggie Mills (Plemmons)

Maggie Plemmons Mills, age 90, of 443 Balsam Ridge Road, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at her residence.

Maggie was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late William B. and Martha Mull Plemmons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Mills, and two brothers, Bill and Houston Plemmons. Maggie made life rafts for World War II veterans. She was devoted to taking care of her family and extended family and friends. They will always hold a special place in their hearts. She was a member of Rocky Branch Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Michael O. Mills of Canton; two sisters, Altha Smith and her husband, Robert, and Lucille Wood all of Waynesville; three brothers, Doyle Plemmons and his wife, Susie, of Waynesville, Reverend George Plemmons and his wife, Sally, of Clyde, and James Plemmons of Shady Springs, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Nicole Hyatt and her husband, Blake, Mikheal, Heidi, Slade, and Chloe Mills; one great-grandson, Jaxson Hyatt, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charlie Creasman officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
