Obituary for Mack Turner Bryson
Mack Turner Bryson, 82, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at his residence in Franklin.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Sam and Olive Pierson Bryson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Douglas Bryson and brothers, Sam, Vernon and Alton Bryson. Mack served his country in the Marines during World War II, serving in Samoan and Guadalcanal in New Zealand. He received the Presidential Unit Citation. He retired from General Motors in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Keener Bryson; daughters, Gayle Pendergrass and husband Landy, Elayne Long and husband John all of Franklin, Rosalyn Bond of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Jerri Williams and husband Tom of Temple, GA; son Rick Bryson and wife Belinda of Sylva; sister Otela Bryson of Asheville; brother, Wiley Bryson of Franklin; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 4, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Salem Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rick Pendergrass, Dwayne Blackwell, Ted Picklesimer, Kenneth Houston, Mack Stanfield, Mike Bryson, Landy Pendergrass and Tom Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Blackwell and Zach Picklesimer.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Angel Hospice Foundation, PO Box 815, Franklin, NC 28744.
