Obituary for Kurt Joseph Tastinger

Kurt Joseph Tastinger, 30, of Franklin, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. He was born on April 24, 1993, in Sylva, NC, to Tom and Wynell Tastinger.

Kurt was a big-hearted individual who was full of life. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his jokes and goofball nature. Kurt was also empathetic, kind, and a loving father to his children Kurt Tastinger, Oliver Millsaps, and Charlie Millsaps.

Nothing gave Kurt more happiness than spending time with his children. Sadly, Kurt only had a brief time to spend with his children, but he made the most of that special time. From coaching and playing t-ball with the kids to making jokes and silly faces, he never lost his sense of humor. He had a great ability to make others smile.

In addition to his children, Kurt is survived by his wife, Erica Tastinger; his father, Tom Tastinger; his mother, Wynell Tastinger; his brother, Thomas Tastinger; his grandfather, Tom Tastinger; his grandmother, Jeanne Tastinger; and his grandmother, Victoria O'Day. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kurt was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hulbert Joseph Blackwell and Hazel Bond Blackwell Warden, both of Gulfport, MS; his cousin, Shane Tastinger of Franklin, NC; aunt, Kelli Balckwell Peters of Gautier, MS; and his uncle, Adam O'Day of Orlando, Florida.

Kurt attended Franklin High School and later pursued a career as an installation and service technician at Tastinger's Carpet One. He took great pride in his work and was known for being meticulous in his floor covering installations, always striving for perfection.

Kurt was a huge Miami Dolphins fan and had a deep love for sports. He enjoyed following his favorite team and was passionate about the game.
