Obituary for Johnny Ray Chambless

Johnny Ray  Chambless
Johnny Ray Chambless, 73, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009.
Born in Winfield, AL, he was the son of the late Grady Chambless and Sally Mae Chambless. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William, LeRoy, Dexter and Jimmy Chambless and sister, Louise Simmons. He was a retired truck driver and received a gold watch and a “million mile” safety award when he retired. Johnny was a dedicated Atlanta Braves Fan and was a member of Mt. Sinai Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Verlie Mae Cochran Chambless; six children, Debra Ann Jones of Tifton, GA, Randy and Dale Chambless both of TyTy, GA, Tammy Combs, Tonya Chambless and Tracy Hood all of Franklin; brother, Wayne Chambless of Sylvester, GA; fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Johnny Raby and Rev. Radford Penland will officiate. Burial will be in the Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Justin Stamey, Derek Stamey, Brandon Carpenter, Mike Ford, Chris Ford, Darren Cochran, Larry Davis, Steve Combs and Brent Chambless.
