Johnny Ray Brown, 68, of Otto, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the home surrounded by his family.
A native of Otto, NC, he was the son of the late Cecil Cling Brown and “Grace” Saunders Brown. He was the husband of the late Elinor “Joy” Brown. In addition he was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Lee Brown of Franklin and Kenneth Brown of Otto. Johnny was a member and officer of Gem City AutoClub. After graduating from Franklin High School he joined the military and retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He then worked at Sangamo and Gap Manufacturing and retired again in 2002. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Roxanne Chambless and husband Bill of Otto, Melissa Frazier and husband David of Franklin and Vanessa Cook and husband Rick of Franklin; one brother, Jerry Cecil Brown of Otto; one sister , Mildred Sarah Tiernan of Rochester Hills, Michigan; six grandchildren, Danielle Chambless, Christopher Chambless, Michael Fitzgerald, Heather Fitzgerald, Lucas Cook and Taylor Cook; one step-granddaughter, Cristine Frazier and several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Pastors Keith Newell and Greg Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in the Asbury Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Macon Funeral Home.
Christopher Chambless, Heather Fitzgerald, Lucas Cook, Taylor Cook, Kevin Brown and Russell McConnell will serve as pallbearers.
