John Henry Gibson, 67, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, February 6,2010.
Born in Macon County, on October 7, 1942, he was the son of the late Pink Andy Gibson and Gladys Smith Gibson. John was a U.S. Army veteran and was a construction superintendent for Western Builders. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting, fishing and gardening and he loved his grandchildren. He had an expectation of reuniting with family that had gone on before and waiting for family to join him in heaven.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Cabe Gibson; three daughters, Michele McCoy and husband Chad of Weaverville, NC, Melissa Gibson of Franklin and Merry Shipley and husband Logan of Franklin; three sisters, Joann Shope and Ruth Fountain both of Mountain City, GA and Linda Holland and husband Tony of Black Mountain, NC; three grandchildren, Zoe McCoy, Ayden Shipley and Seaerra Barker and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 13, at Franklin Covenant Church. Rev. John Makinson and Rev. Robert Enloe will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
