Obituary for John Carl Brown

John Carl  Brown
John "Carl" Brown, 80, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007.

Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Lambert Brown and Pauline Early Brown. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mack, Marvin and Lawton and a sister, Arlee Conner. Carl retired from Nantahala Power & Light after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Early Farm Antique Tractor Club; member of the Sugarfork Baptist Church and attended Mashburn Branch Baptist Church.
Carl loved farming.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Bowers Brown; son, John C. Brown and wife Terry of Franklin; sister, Mary McCall of Cashiers, NC; and two grandsons, Jason Curtis Brown and Nathan Carl Brown.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 6, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Ernie Sanders, Rev. Mike Chastain and Rev. Rick Potts will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be George Barrett, Willard Barrett, Eldon Potts, James Cabe, Ellard Bolick and Bruce Dills.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Retirees of Nantahala Power & Light Co.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lewis Rathbun Wellness Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
