Obituary for John Curtis Brown

John Curtis Brown, 65, of Franklin, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late John “Carl” Brown and Ruth Bowers Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Lynn Brown. He was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church. John was custodian at Franklin High School. He loved farming, was a member of the JMS Cattleman’s Association, and was the owner of Whispering Ridge Farms. He cherished every minute he spent with his grandson, Reagan.

John is survived by his wife of 25 years, Terry Guffie Brown; two sons, Jason Curtis Brown and his wife, Jody of Franklin, and Nathan Carl Brown of Franklin; and one grandson, Reagan Anthony Brown of Franklin. Also surviving is Terry’s family, who John loved and numerous other friends and family.

Funeral Service will be 11am, Wednesday, October 4, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Cale Stancil, Rev. Rick Potts, and Rev. Greg Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, October 3, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Brown, Nathan Brown, Reagan Brown, James Guffie, Jerry Guffie, Mark Bell, and Mike Carpenter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or Gideons International.
