Obituary for Joe V. Bennett Jr.
Joe V. Bennett Jr., 77, of Franklin, NC, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
Born in Monticello, IL, he was the son of the late Joe V. Bennett Sr. and Loretta Vaughn Bennett. He was a Naval Air Force Veteran of four years, having served in the Korean Conflict. Joe worked for General Cable in Monticello, IL for thirteen years; was ten year owner of The Finish Line Motorcycle Shop in Decatur, IL; established Bennett Services and was a finish carpenter for the rest of his life. He was an avid Nascar Fan; enjoyed Go-Carts; was a gun collector and loved motorcycles.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy McCall Bennett; son, Joe V. Bennett III and wife Susan of Cisco, IL; two daughters, Dawn Vandecasteele and husband Edmond of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Shawn Turner and husband Lloyd of Cisco, IL; two sisters, Gypsy Redmond of Decatur, IL and Sandra Schweighart of Monticello, IL; six grandchildren and three grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at White Heath Community Building in White Heath, IL.
Burial will be in the Ingram Cemetery in Centerville, IL.
Memorial donations can be made to Angel Hospice General Fund, 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
