Obituary for James Parker "J.P." Moore

James Parker “JP” Moore, 85, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2023. Mr. Moore was born on June 30, 1938, in Macon County to the late Charlie Parker and Ethel Haskett Moore. JP was the oldest of seven children and was preceded in death by sisters, Maxine Dills and Janice Faucett; brothers, Donnie, Bobby Joe, and Jackie Dale (infant) Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jean Ramey Moore, son, Timothy James Moore (Marcia); grandson Christopher Moore (Autumn); granddaughters Ashley Moore and Courtney Morrow (Dakota); great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Mason Winkler, Ennslie Moore, Lily , Maliah, and Kamdyn Morrow, as well as one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Stanfield of Franklin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

JP Moore was a member of Longview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon until he was no longer able. JP was drafted into the Army in 1961 and served his country from Fort Benning, Georgia. JP was a craftsman, who made numerous mailboxes in shapes of tractors, racecars, and churches. These were sent all over the world to his customers. He also made nail puzzles, stars for barns, as well as many other crafts.

He was a salesman at Macon County Supply and Buck’s Furniture. He also had the Western Auto Store for several years. He loved people and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and all of those who knew him.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Revs. Johnny Lee and Clark Moss will officiate. Burial will follow at Longview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Chris Moore, Jody Stanfield, Dakota Morrow, Jeff Stanley, Jeff Cloer, and Brian Anderson. Dale Holland, Buddy Cloer, Fred Stiles and Colbert Henson will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
