Obituary for James J. Henson

James J.  Henson
James J. Henson, 84, of Otto, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
Born in Macon Co. he was the son of the late James M. Henson and Robie Mae English. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Willie Jenkins, Bertha Mae Henson and Barbara Jean Woody. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #0381in Litchfield, OH. James was a US Marine Corps Veteran having served in WWII as Corporal and was recently chosen to travel with WWII Veterans from Macon County to Washington, DC. He was a member of Newman Chapel Baptist Church and served in various positions within the church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jewel Eleanor Connor Henson; son, Robert A. Henson and wife Bonnie of Otto; two brothers, Charles Henson and wife Monteen of Jenkinsburg, GA and Roy Henson and wife Wanda of Otto; granddaughter, Alice Klose and husband Michael of Mtn. Home, ID; two grandsons, Gage James Klose and Preston Kade Klose and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, at Newman Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Cannon and Rev. Roy Lindsay will officiate. Burial will be in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Macon Funeral Home.
Smoky Mountain Marine Corps League will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made to Newman Chapel Cemetery Fund, C/O Dorothy Monteith, 60 Mulberry Rd, Otto, NC 28763.
