Obituary for James Hargrave Parrish

James "Hargrave" Parrish, 84, of Franklin, passed away Monday, March 26, 2007.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Dwight L. Parrish and Thelma Raby Parrish. Hargrave was preceded in death by a son, James Ronald Parrish who died in 1995; two brothers, Joe and Charles "Rudolph" and a sister, Virginia Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 7339. Hargrave retired from the State of N.C. Dept. of D.O.T. and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eva Nell Bradley Parrish; two sons, Robert Gene Parrish and wife Wanda of Franklin and Jerry Lee Parrish and wife Gaye of Clayton, GA; daughter-in-law, Margaret Parrish of Franklin; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Stevens, Rev. John Rogers and Rev. Gene Bohner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tony Parrish, Michael Parrish, Chad Parrish, Greg Parrish, Everett Parrish and Matt Brewer.

Memorial donations may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Evelyn Hughes, 190 Dean Drive, Franklin, NC 28734.
