Obituary for Ida Hinds (Thompson)

Ida Thompson Hinds, 86, of Franklin, entered into rest on Monday, April 4, 2005.

A native of China, Texas, she was the daughter of the late William H. Thompson and Nannie Bell Redding Thompson. She was married to the late Joseph W. Hinds, Sr. who died in 1990 and was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith P. Ross who died in 2004 and an infant daughter, Barbara Louise Hinds. She was a member of Duval Station Baptist Church in Florida and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church and Cowee Baptist Church in Franklin. Ida lived in the Bradley Creek Community from 1974-1995. She was a member of the Quilters Guild and demonstrated hand crafts at the Macon County Fair.

She is survived by two children, Priscilla G. Lee and husband Eddie of Franklin and Joseph W. Hinds, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, W. C. Thompson, Jr. and wife Louise of Leesburg, FL; one son-in-law, James Burnette Ross of Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Duval Station Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL. Burial will be in the Ferreira Memorial Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 8, at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, Jacksonville, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cowee Baptist Church Building Fund, 6301 Bryson City Road, Franklin, NC 28734 or Angel Home Health and Hospice, 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
