Obituary for Hoyt Nichols

Hoyt  Nichols
Hoyt Nichols, 73, of Otto, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008.

Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Felix F. Nichols and Catherine Beasley Nichols. He was preceded in death by a sister Ann Lamb. Hoyt worked for Vulcan Materials; he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and he loved to fish.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Hassie Mathis Nichols; four children, David Nichols and wife Connie of Otto, Mary Ann Cals and husband Brian of Toccoa, GA, Teresa Hopkins and husband James of Franklin and Tony Nichols of Otto; brother, Bobby Nichols of Otto; five sisters, Stella Cunningham and Faye Shirley both of Otto, Margie Blaine of Franklin, Betty Sue Carpenter of Easley, SC and Willette Richardson of Liberty, SC; four grandchildren, Becky Cals, Joshua Mathis, Adam Hopkins and Kenneth Jinks; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, at Newman‘s Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Rondal Owen and Rev. Benny Hurst will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, September 29, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Hopkins, Adam Hopkins, Brian Cals, K.C. Jinks, Josh Mathis and Stanley Hopkins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Ramey, Lex Ramey, Joe Rogers, Keith Hopkins, and Jerry Schaffer.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
