Obituary for Hazel Breedlove Welch
Hazel Breedlove Welch, 86, of Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
Hazel was born in Swain County on June 5, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Glen and Mae Dehart Breedlove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Odis Paul Welch, and a sister, Bobbie York. Hazel was a devout Christian and was affectionately called “Teen” by her family. She and Odis loved going camping, traveling, and spending time with their family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by three daughters, Sonya Welch (Charley), Jan Welch Pruett, and Sheila Welch Zilbauer (Jim) all of Franklin, NC; three siblings, Violet Winchester, Alvin Breedlove (Maude) and Jean Brooks all of Bryson City, NC; three grandsons, Cody Lyn Lindberg, Tyler Welch Pruett, and Tanner Jack Pruett; and two great granddaughters, Joslynn Rose Lindberg, and Gemma Rae Lindberg. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 9, at 11am in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. The burial will be in the Tellico Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am at Macon Funeral Home, just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Tellico Baptist Church cemetery.
