Obituary for Hazel Avanelle Miller (Wood)
Hazel Avanelle Wood Miller, 90, of Scaly Mountain, went home to be with to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
Born in Pickens, SC, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Emma Watson Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Miller, and her siblings, Earl Wood, Elsie Wood Coggins, Vernon Wood, Gladys Wood, and Emmit Wood. Hazel was a member of the Scaly Mountain Church of God. In her spare time, her hobbies included quilting, sewing, painting, reading, and stitching, and working with her roses in her flower garden.
Hazel is survived by her siblings, Oleta Rogers of Asheville, NC, Mary Ruth Keever of Whittier, NC, Judy Reece of Whittier, and Lawrence Wood of Brevard; sisters in laws, Joyce Wood of Scaly Mountain, and Naomi Johnson of Candler, NC; nieces, Cheryl Talley and husband Shane, their children, Emmaline and Spencer of Scaly Mountain, Julia Wood and husband, James of Otto, Melanie Reitzel and husband, Robert of Whittier, Laura Reece of Whittier, and Tammy Talley and husband, Clay of Scaly Mountain, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Service will be Sunday, July 3, at 7pm in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Shane Wood, Rev. Donald Bates, Rev. Larry May, Rev. Sam Manus and Rev. Mozart Moliere will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 7pm, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Victory Fellowship Church, Attn: El Salvador Wells, 1339 Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30060.
