Harry Moses, 82, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2006.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Lorenz T. Moses and Edna Bowman Moses. In addtion to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Moses. He was a WWII US Navy veteran serving on the USS Franklin CV13 in the Pacific Theater. Harry was a graduate of WCU; was teacher and principal for Macon County School System and Roanoke Rapids, NC; and was a Real Estate Broker for over 50 years. He was a member of Higdonville Baptist Church and a member of the VFW Post 7339.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dixie Childers Moses; daughter, Carolyn Sanders and husband Dennis of Franklin; three sisters, Melba Huggins, Hazel Stamey and husband Jay Lloyd and Virginia Corbin and husband Wilford all of Franklin; one brother, Joe Moses of Franklin; two granddaughters, Erica Sanders and Cheryl Sanders Vernon and husband Trevor; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 26, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Mack Hutson and Rev. Tommy Fouts will officiate. Burial will be in the Sugarfork Baptist Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 25, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Stamey, Steve Higdon, Trevor Vernon, Gary Garren, Morlan Bowman, Eric Corbin, Carroll Corbin and Jake Stamey.
Memorial donations may be made to the Higdonville Baptist Church Building Fund.
