Obituary for Harley Judson Gibson

Harley Judson “Jud” Gibson, 75, of Franklin, NC, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at his residence.

Born and raised in Macon County, he was the son of the late Harley Gibson and Lesa Roper Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Allen Gibson; brother, Wade Gibson; and a sister, Gale Thomas. Jud loved painting, hanging and finishing sheetrock, and construction work, but above all Jud’s first love was “his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”. Jud was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.

He is survived by his companion, Ronda Henry of Franklin; three sons, Kenny Gibson of Franklin, Joey Gibson of Franklin, Harley Childers (Yvonne) of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Sarah Sanford of Franklin; three sisters, Doris Dow of Harrisburg, PA, Dale Sisti (Joe) of Otto, Glenda Hughes (Chris) of Rabun Gap, GA; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one soon to be grandchild. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. David Lee Williams and Rev. Darian Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in the Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Gibson Jr., Timothy Gibson, Bobby Dills, Matt Baker, Rodney Breton, and Case Robinson.

In lieu of the flowers, memorials can be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Dr Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
