Grant Owen Jones, 77, of Franklin, passed away Monday, August 25, 2008.
Born in Ashton, Idaho, he was the son of the late Samp Jones and Myrtle Gunter Jones. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Ann Franks; brothers Lonnie Jones and Arnold Jones and sister, Penny Pannell. Grant was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for the North Carolina Department of Trasportation. He loved all animals and enjoyed farming. Grant was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucy F. Cabe Jones; two daughters, Elizabeth Johnson and friend Sonny Garrett and Gail Carpenter and husband J.B. both of Franklin; two sisters, Dorothy Smith of Asheville and Geneva Hoyle of Mt. Airy, GA; two brothers, Verlon Jones of Asheville and Ruel Jones of Mt. Airy, GA; three grandchildren, Arlene Jones and husband Brian, Renee Waldroop and husband Matthew and Bryan Carpenter and wife Jessica; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Jones, Dalton Jones and Kevin Carpenter and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church. Rev. Benny Bagwell, Rev. Ed Frampton, Rev. Buddy Driggers and Rev. Sherron Geiger will be officiating. Burial will be in Victory Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from7-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Macon Funeral Home.
Deacons of Victory Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial Donations can be made to Victory Baptist Church Building Fund.
