Obituary for Furman Passmore
Furman I. Passmore, 80, of Franklin, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Isaac N. Passmore and Zelma Blackburn Passmore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Elwin V. "Pat" Latimer, and a sister Evelyn Talley. He was a Navy veteran serving during WWII in the South Pacific. Mr. Passmore was retired from Rockhill Printing and Finishing Company. He was a member of Franklin Church of God, the Masonic Lodge #111 and the VFW in Rockhill, SC. He was a Shriner at the Hejaz Temple .
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ruth Head Lattimer Passmore; four daughters, Christine Childers and Brenda Ann Davis both of York, SC; Margaret Ann Owens of Clover, SC; and Nancy Elaine Hicks of Florida; three sons, Furman I. Passmore Jr. of York, SC; Ronald L. Latimer Sr. of York, SC; and Joseph A. Latimer of Geronimo, Oklahoma; one sister, Roda Faye Howe of Hendersonville, NC; four brothers, James T. Passmore, Lloyd E. Passmore and Lenword Passmore all of Rockhill, SC and Eugene Passmore of Franklin, NC.; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 22, at the Franklin Church of God. Rev. Allen Taylor, Rev. Hank Conners, Rev. Roy Conners, Rev. Billy Gilliard, and Rev. Phillip Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Macon Funeral Home.
