Obituary for Fred Otto

Fred  Otto
Fred Otto, 82, of Franklin, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, December 29, 2009.

Fred was born in Milwaukee, WI and was the son of the late Frederick H. and Mabel Otto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Rachel Guy Otto who died in 1996 and a sister, Dolores. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He enjoyed a career in the florist business during his early married years. Certain events led to a career change that would cover 45 plus years in the travel business with five years with NW Airlines beginning in 1955; ten years with Bancroft Travel in Milwaukee and one year with AAA. In 1971 He and Rachel moved to Ft. Meyers, FL to manage the travel agency for AAA. He retired in 1987 after having traveled throughout most of the world. In 1988 he and Rachel moved to Otto, NC full time, where he spent the next ten years out of retirement and worked full and part time at Fantasy Travel in Sylva, NC. Fred was a friend of all and loved doing for others. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by a sister, Barbara Otto of Milwaukee and Violet Pannell, a very special lady friend and companion of Franklin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 1, 2010 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Dusek will officiate. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Milwaukee, WI.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Macon Funeral Home.
