Franklin L. Rubie, 87, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008.
Born in St. Louis, MO on May 4, 1920; Frank was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard and served proudly on the USS Duane during World War II. He worked at Grumman Aviation in Bethpage, New York for 20 years where he participated in building the lunar landing module and received many awards in recognition of his work.
Frank and Patricia Rubie, who passed away in 1985, moved to Franklin in 1977 upon his retirement from Grumman. He loved his years in this beautiful part of the country, especially the last twenty years with his loving companion, Harriet Bingenheimer.
In addition to his companion, Harriet, Frank is survived by three daughters, Joann Haglund and husband Clifford of North Augusta, SC, Polly Miller and husband James of Woodstock, GA, and Deborah Rubie of Hayward, CA; nine grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren. Frank was a member of the Spiritual Light Center.
Cremation has already taken place and he will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery. A celebration of his life is planned for a future date.
Frank was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend, and companion so cherished by his family, and who will live always in our hearts.
