Frank Tastinger, 92, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009.
Born in Weirton, WV, he was the son of the late Jacob Tastinger and Anna Kull Tastinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Anna Tastinger.
Guided by his belief in God and the Catholic Church, Frank was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus who exemplified the four principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose values, honesty, and integrity were an inspiration to all.
Frank spent his youth in Baltimore, MD and then moved to Miami, FL with his wife where they raised their four children. In 1978, he relocated to Franklin after retiring from Eastern Airlines where he worked as an aircraft mechanic.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Frank Tastinger Jr. and wife Sally of Sunrise, FL, and Tom Tastinger Sr. and wife Jeanne, Barbara Chaplin and husband Sheldon and Rita Houston and husband Mike all of Franklin; sister, Elizabeth Rice of Boca Raton, FL; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Rev. Tien Duong will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Macon Funeral Home. Rosary Service will follow at 8:00 p.m.
Franks eight grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Tom Tastinger Jr. Joe Culpepper, Doug Tastinger, John Tastinger, Michael Culpepper, Anthony Tastinger, David Culpepper and Jason Tastinger.
