Frances Irene Nettles, 82, of Snellville, GA, formerly of Franklin, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009.
Born in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Morgan Jones and Sarah Etta DeVinney Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Irvin Shelby Nettles. Frances was a Registered Nurse and retired in 1983. She taught off-campus courses from W.C.U to nurses and E.M.T. in Macon and Jackson County; won recognition twice from N.C. Governor’s Award for one of the best senior citizen’s exercise programs in NC and continued her education and received her R.N, B.S.N, E.M.T, and M.S. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklin and former church organist at Highlands 1st Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Joy Smith of Clayton, GA, Jean Brown of Cookeville, TN and Jane Nettles of Snellville, GA; sister, Gwen Young; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four nieces and three nephews.
Graveside Service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at Highlands Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Harold Ball will officiate. Burial will be in Highlands Memorial Park Cemetery.
