Esther Garvey Clairville, 95, of Franklin, NC passed away December 14, 2007.

Born in Providence, RI, February 1, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Valeda Garvey. She was preceded in death by husband, William Clairville in 1988; sisters, Alice and Madeline Garvey of Providence, RI; brothers and sisters-in-law George and Waneta Garvey, Robert and Rita Garvey, Bernard Garvey and Eileen Garvey all of South Bend, Indiana, Irma C. Moran of Franklin, NC and brother-in-law Vincent McCormick of Ormond Beach, FL. Esther resided in Miami Shores, FL for many years and was office manager for Wholesale Wallpaper Company. She moved to Franklin in 1971 and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was a former member of Franklin Women’s Golf Association, and a charter member of Mill Creek Women’s Golf Association. For many years Esther was a volunteer and treasurer for the Macon County Humane Society.

She is survived by her sister, Agnes McCormick of Ormond Beach, FL; two brothers, John Garvey and wife Betty of Reseda, CA and William Garvey of Bluffton, Indiana; sister-in-law Janet Garvey of South Bend, Indiana; two step children, William Clairville of Exeter, NH and Shirley Goyette of Venice, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews. Esther will be sadly missed by dear friends Grayce and Ivan MacDonald, Mary Cathey, Thelma and Ernie Niolet, Susan Ehle and her “good girl” Kajun.

Memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, December 20, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Rev. Matthew Kauth will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 299 Maple Street, Franklin, NC 28734 or Angel Hospice, 170 Church Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
