Estelle “Kathy” Lee Reed, 81, of Franklin, NC, passed away on May 4th, 2023. She was born on August 11th, 1941, in Illinois. Estelle was also known as Kathy, her preferred name.

Kathy was a dedicated High School Biology teacher as part of her mission work in Bolivia back in her mid 20's. She spent over 30+ years working at Northridge Hospital in Los Angeles, CA as a Laboratory Scientist before retiring in 2003. She was a volunteer working with AIDS patients, starting in the mid/late eighties till she retired to Franklin, NC. She also enjoyed writing poetry and was even published in 2004. She also did volunteer work at Macon County Nursing and Rehab Center here in Franklin, Macon County pre Covid-19.

In her free time, Estelle enjoyed reading, writing poetry, gardening, and playing computer games like Mob Wars with her online friends. She also loved spending time with her many dogs and of course her family.

Estelle was an honest, giving, faithful and loving person.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Reed, mother, Georgia Reed, sister, Linda Reed, and stepmother, Audrey Reed. Estelle is survived by her stepdaughter, Lyn J Scott, step grandson, Kyle W Scott, brother, Bill Reed (Barb), niece, Katie Busch (RJ), nephew, Brian Reed (Karina), and great nephews, Landon, Jameson, and Deacon.

No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your local animal shelters in Estelle's honor.
